Why Our Furniture Takes Time to Reach You
We make solid wood furniture the slow way — designed in Hong Kong, sourced globally, built by hand, inspected twice. Here’s what happens between your order and your delivery.

Why Kumo quality stands apart
Not all “wood furniture” is created equal. Here’s how we compare.
Luxury-grade construction at a fraction of luxury-brand pricing. That’s the Kumo difference.
Slow furniture, made right
Unlike mass-produced particle-board furniture shipped from mega-warehouses, every Kumo piece is solid wood — crafted by experienced artisans in a small-batch factory. This takes longer. We think it’s worth it.
We source wood directly from the regions where it grows best — North American walnut, European oak, sustainable plantations. By going to the source instead of buying through middlemen, we control quality from the very first cut.
We work directly with our own factory — no brokers, no middlemen. This means we can oversee every step, but it also means production runs on a schedule, not instantaneously.
A typical batch of 20–30 solid wood pieces takes up to 3 months to complete. Every piece is hand-sanded through multiple grit levels to achieve the smooth, warm finish that machine-sanding can’t replicate.
Before any piece leaves our facility, it is opened from packaging, carefully inspected and evaluated, repaired if needed, then re-packed with fresh protective materials.
We ship by ocean container to keep costs down and pass the savings to you as free shipping. This adds 45–60 days of transit, but it means a $700 chair doesn’t become a $1,200 chair.
“We could ship faster by cutting corners. We’d rather not.”

Where your money actually goesWe don’t spend on flashy showrooms, celebrity endorsements, or middlemen markups. The vast majority of what you pay goes directly into the product — the wood, the craft, and the quality checks that make it last. That’s why a Kumo solid walnut bookcase costs what it does — and why customers who’ve waited for it consistently say it was worth every penny. High value-for-money, not “cheap” At our price point, competitors typically offer veneer-over-MDF with spray finish. We offer solid walnut, hand-polished, double-inspected — specs that normally cost 2–3× more at luxury retailers. “The wait was longer than I expected, but when I opened the box I understood why. The craftsmanship is incredible.” — Verified Buyer
